Hughes, Langston. "Let America Be America Again." Poemhunter.com 5 Jan. 2003. Web. 15 Apr. 2012. (This is a good poem that supports my thesis about him having an elevated perception about social and racial issues.)

Lit Analysis Thesis: Shakespeare witnessed discrimination and inequality during his lifetime, which influenced his works he wrote such as Romeo and Juliet and The Merchant of Venice. A common motif that appears in plays is that there are conflicts between religious/racial groups etc.

"Elizabethan Women." Queen Elizabeth I (1533-603). Web. 6. Apr. 2012. .

This document describes the roles and statuses of women during Elizabethan England. it states that it was ta time that women had little power and influence. This benefits my research paper because it shows the environment that Shakespeare lived in and also provides as evidence supporting my thesis that the inequality Shakespeare faced during his lifetime influenced the work that he wrote.

My thesis:Edgar Allan Poe effectively displays the role tragedies of his early life played in creating a blur between reality and imagination through his short stories and poems.

Literary Analysis Anotated Bibliography (1):"Edgar Allan Poe." - Biography and Works. Search Texts, Read Online. Discuss. Web. 16 Apr. 2012. . This website analyzes Edgar Allan Poe’s life, and tells of the tragedies of his early childhood that may have impacted his literary works. This, I think, will be a very influential source for me because my entire thesis is based upon the fact that Edgar Allan Poe’s tragedies were based on his early life.

Annotated Bibliography:

@Aidan Marvick Your thesis seems quite intellectual. But when I read your annotated bibliography example, I wanted to ask "What type of source is it?" Maybe a way you can find information on your author is EBSCO :D

Thesis: Shakespeare's plays and sonnets can relate to every person through themes and timeless emotions such as Love, Hate, and Trust.

Forrester, Ann. “Why Teach Shakespeare? (Or Any Other Dead White Male?)”. 1995. ERIC.

Web. 12 Apr. 2012.

This article states many reasons why high schools across the nation are teaching the works of Shakespeare. The article also states how anyone can relate to Shakespeare's work. How Shakespeare's themes can relate to anyone, like Love, Hate, and Betrayal.

Aidan Marvick said...

@ Marissa Bryant-Manago: Marissa, your thesis is simple and well stated. I like the flow of it, but I think it should be "plot lines" instead of "plots". The anotated bib is good, but you might want to add another sentence in the middle with a little more description of the informtion. Great job.

Thesis:
Shakespeare's works have deeper meanings than they may appear to because of the event that took pace in his life. These meanings often give us advice and knwledge.

Annotated Bibliography:
Nordstrom,Alan. "Shakespeare on wisdom". Taylor & Francis, Ltd,
2008. Web. 9 Apr 2012

This source explains how Shakespeare hides messages in his plays but more importantly deciphering what hes trying to tell us. The source gives many ideas what shakespere could be talking about. This source doesn't explain much about Shakespeare's life but instead is more focused onn the meaning of his hidden messages. This source could help me in figuring out what Shakespeare is really tellig us as the aaudience.

Thesis statement: Tragedy, horror, and nightmares in Edgar Allan Poe's own bittersweet life experiences lead him to create literary works that reflects his dark, morbid, angished journey.
Annotated Bibliography- Poe, Edgar Allan. Complete Tales And Poems Of Edgar Allan Poe. New York: Castle Books, 2002. This book has 78 short stories and 48 poems that include "The Fall Of The House of Usher", "The Puroined Letter", "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Raven", "The Murders in The Rue Morgue", "The Black Cat", and "The Mystery of Maries Roger". This helped me to support my claim because it had complete tales and poems that were really dark and depressing. I needed it because of my claim was, because of the terrible events that occurred in Edgar Allan Poe's life he wrote such depressing literary works.

@Cortney Heiss- You have a well written thesis and annotated bibliography but, one part of the thesis doesn't really make sense to me... "creating a blur between reality and imagination through his short stories and poems."... could you please explain what you mean by 'blur'?

Zac said...

@ Unknown doing Martin Luther King Jr
You need a lot more details. What did Martin Luther King Jr do change the world? He changed the world through... You need to narrow down your thesis. For your bibliography, why is he a good man? Did the website have information on what he did to make him a good man? You need to add more length, narrow down your thesis and describe more about your source in the annotated bib.
